Your First Task — Let's See What This Thing Can Do
A practical guide to bringing Claude into your real workflows, decisions, and connected tools.
The best way to understand Cowork is to give it something real to do. Not a test question — an actual task from your business.
Here are three great starter tasks:
"Write me a one-page service overview for my business." — Tell Claude what you do, who your customers are, and what problem you solve. It will write it for you in Word format.
"Summarise this document." — Drag any file into the chat. Ask Claude to summarise the key points in plain language.
"What's on my Google Calendar this week?" — If you've connected your calendar, Claude pulls your schedule and tells you what's coming up.
You don't need to format your request perfectly. Claude understands natural language — write to it the way you'd write a text message to a capable colleague.
Think about this: What's one task you've been putting off because it feels tedious? Try typing it into Cowork and see what happens.
In case you hear this term out there...
Natural language — Plain, conversational English — the way you'd write a message to a friend. No special commands needed.
Prompt — The message or instruction you send to an AI. Clear and specific is all it takes.
✦ Give Cowork a real task from your business. The best way to learn it is to use it.
