What this lesson unlocks
Each lesson is structured to explain the concept, show a real use case, and prompt action immediately.
You open your inbox and there's a thread with 23 messages in it. You need to know what was decided. You do not have time to read all 23 messages. This is exactly what Copilot is for.
Each lesson is structured to explain the concept, show a real use case, and prompt action immediately.
This lesson is designed to be tested in the live tool while you read rather than studied abstractly.
Copilot in Outlook can read an entire email thread and give you a plain-language summary of what happened, what was decided, and what still needs action. It takes about 10 seconds.
Open any email thread. At the top of the thread, you'll see a Copilot summary button — it usually says something like 'Summarize' or shows the Copilot icon. Click it. Copilot reads the whole thread and writes a short paragraph telling you the key points.
You can also ask it follow-up questions. 'What did Marcus say about the budget?' or 'Was a decision made about the deadline?' It answers in plain language based on what's actually in the thread.
This is one of the fastest time-saves available to you right now. If you're in back-and-forth threads with clients or suppliers, this alone is worth the price of a Copilot subscription.
When AI reads an entire back-and-forth email conversation and gives you a short version of what happened. Not a quote — a summary, in plain language, of the key points and decisions.
You don't have to read every email in a thread — Copilot will read them all and tell you what matters in plain language.
Keep the lesson open in one tab and the tool open in another so the page stays operational instead of theoretical.
